2007 in review Coming to the close of another year as owners of Grassy Narrows Lodge. It was a year of every emotion that one could expierence. This was our 20th year in the resort business and the most asked question was " how long are you two going to do this?" I just told them until we can’t….So far our health has been good and we both are still in love with Grassy Narrows and seeing all of our old and new guests. Some of our guests have passed away this past year and our thoughts and prayers are with their families. Of course, some of our elderly guests happen to be unable to make the trip to Grassy any longer and we want them to know that they are always in our thoughts . All of our guests that returned noticed a big empty space in the kitchen. Our "sassy cook from Alberta" did not return this summer. She claimed it was age, but she is ageless. She was not only our cook, mother, friend, nurse, secretary and physciatrist. She was everything to us at Grassy. We miss her very much. She is back home recuperating from a neck injury in Didsbury, Alberta. I also had to do without Lollie and Marie this year due to health problems. We sure do miss all of them. We did have Kathleen and Alicia back. Thank goodness. We had new help that came and went for various reasons. Next year we will have a few new faces for our guests to meet . Hopefully, they will be as good as the loyal staff we have had in the past 20 years. Rueben, Fred, Oliver and Al are all still with us. We would like to thank them for all the hard work they do for us during the summer. The fishing was good and the weather was pretty good, too. We did get some rain and that raised the level of the lake a little. Terry Mastandrea caught a 54" musky in July. Some big walleye’s were caught and released. Thanks to all for releasing those breeder fish. Crappie’s came back this year. They caught some really nice "slabs". Well, Thankgiving is here and we have so much to be thankful for. We are very thankful for you and for the new guest we will meet this year. Please have a wonderful Holiday Season, and count your blessings, because life is so short and you should enjoy every minute of it. Happy Holidays and we will see you all in 2008.
