Newsletter for 2010

2010 is almost coming to an end.

Here we go leaving behind another year at Grassy Narrows and Tamarack Lodges.  Actually, it was a good year considering the economy and a lot of other issues.  We are so grateful for all of you that are regular customers and friends.  We really appreciate you coming year after year.  Your what keep us going.  .  Also, all of the new customers that we had this year.  We are glad you picked Grassy or Tamarack for your vacation and we hope you make it a permanent thing.

We also have to thank Carolyn Stafford for her wonderful meals.  Wow!  I think I put on some extra pounds.  She made some great meals and has a wonderful personality.  The guests all had high praises for her.  Also, Audrey our waitress who kept everyone served.  Another nice employee.  Susan worked hard at keeping the cabins clean.  She never complained and always worked with a smile on her face.  Two more ladies that deserve my thanks, are 2 of our old regulars.  Lollie and Marie.  Whenever I needed help especially at Tamarack they came out and cleaned cabins for me.  Thanks girls.  And Ila was back to fill in for Carolyn when she took some time off.  Then our dock maintenance man, Darryl.  What a super guy.  Worked hard all summer and kept Grassy in good shape. Of course, our regulars, Fred, Rueben and Oliver are still with us.  Thanks staff your all great.

2010 was a year that found Darryl and Fred building a new dock and Darryl putting  electrics on the new dock.  Which was appreciated by our guests.  The dock sure is a nice addition to Grassy.

The fishing was great.  Danny Mastandrea caught a 53” muskie.  Larry Farrar and Roger Breitzman caught 29” walleyes.  There were some 27 inchers and a lot of 25” caught. Jeff Davis and Chelsea Swerdwick  caught 25”and 23”smallmouths.  The weather at times didn’t cooperate with the fishing.  Windy and cold days.  But being die hard fishermen and women they just went out and got the job done.  I think most of the people were happy with their catches.

It was so nice to be able to catch up on everyones families and what is going on in their lives.  We did have some sad news this past October.  One of our guests, Karen Neu passed away.  The staff called her “candy lady” because she worked at Nestles and she would bring bags of candy for them.  She was a big muskie fisherlady and we will miss her.  Jerry has some  health issues but the doctors all gave him some good reports.  We hope all of you are healthy and happy.

Again we thank you all for being with us this year and we hope you will come back in the new year to be with us again.  It is time to wish you all a Merry Chistmas and a very Happy New year.  See you in 2011.
